BANCO CASINO MASTERS #8: AFTER THE GREAT COMEBACK, DOMINIK DESSET BECAME A CHAMPION OF THE EIGHTH MASTERS TAKING 20,502€!
The six-day poker competition known as the Banco Casino Masters culminated in the final day, in which the nine most successful players out of 601 entries presented themselves. Great show was performed by the poker community during the past few days at Banco Casino Bratislava, and even the last day was no exception, after all it was played for almost 60,000€.
If you missed the live broadcast from Banco Casino Bratislava yesterday, you could watch the recording at the following link:
Before the start of the final table, chipcount looked as followed:
The first person to leave the final line-up was Matúš Páleník, who took home 1,284€ for his performance, as his ace with a three could not beat Duklaak's combination of ten-nine in color.
Róbert Maász finished in eighth place, opening 175,000 from the hijack and Tóth found a couple tens in the small blind. He sent all-in straight from the first and Maász called after a long deliberation. The ten on the flop sentenced Maásza to a payout of 1,775€.
Banco Casino Masters winner Eyal Saidof was eliminated next, when he sent an ultrashortstack into the fight in late position with a “pony” and ten, and on the big blind the player found the second best pair combination in no limit hold'em poker. The board did not bring any change and Eyal had to settle for eight places and a reward of 2,266€.
The sixth place was taken by the well-known player of the Bratislava poker scene Andrej Pirník, who first lost the horses against the threes, which had already turned into poker on the tour, and so he shot with an Ax 9x combination against the Duklaak sixes. An ace appeared on the flop and it already looked like a double up, but unless the river falls, nothing is certain. A six landed on the river and it meant a sad end for Pirník, for which he collected 3,066€.
This was followed by a long game in the quintuple, which sent two players Desset and Jakubík to shortstack. One of these two players had to get out of the game and after Duklaak's aggressive action on the button, Denis Jakubík found a couple of fours on a small blink and sent 6 big blinds to the bottom. Followed by Tóth who called, as well as Duklaak called. Subsequently, the queen high board was checked off and Tóth with the nines kept the best combination. The qualifier from VIP Poker Pro Poprad, who started Day 2 with a stack of only 80,000 chips, took 5th place, taking home 4,144€ and a ticket to the next Banco Casino Masters.
After this elimination, chips were pouring from side to another. The chips literally flew around the table until finally the black Peter was given to Michal "Duklaak" Masaryk, who did not improve his result, as he finished fourth. Duklaak open-pushed his stack with Kx Tx and Desset, who made a big comeback, called with Kx 9x. Nine on the flop meant a seat open for Duklaak, who took home 5,608€ and other league points that catapulted him to first place in the Banco Casino Masters League for 2017!
Two Slovaks, Dominik Desset and Martin Tóth, fought their way into the top three of the Banco Casino Masters together with a player from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Esad Omberbasič. Desset flew up and down with his stack until he reached the position of chip leader. At that moment, Omberbasič had a stack of 9 big blinds, which he decided to raise. Tóth found the queens on a small blind and sent them into battle, covering the opponent's stack. After consideration, the Omberbasič decided to call and needed help. Five cards did not help him and Esad Omberbasič finished in third place for 8,235€.
Two remaining players, Martin Tóth and Dominik Desset, presented themselves in the heads-up, in which Desset had the upper hand at the beginning of the heads-up. Before the start of the heads-up, there was a debate about the deal, which was unsuccessful. A tough fight followed, in which Martin Tóth pulled for a shorter end and in the final hand Toth opened Qx 7x and Desset hid the aces only by calling. On the flop 3x 7x 9x Desset check-raised all-in and Tóth called. The turn brought an eight and river insignificant jack, which brought Martin Tóth second place and a reward of 12,888€!
Dominik Desset became the champion of the eighth edition of the Banco Casino Masters with a guarantee of 100,000€, in which 601 entries were recorded. Winner takes home 20,502€ and a ticket to the next Masters for his victory. Desset performed a nice poker show, at the end of which a trophy for the Banco Casino Masters champion was waiting for him!
