The inaugural Pokercode Festival at Banco Casino Bratislava roared ahead on Day 1b of the €125,000 guaranteed Pokercode Festival Bratislava Main Event with 122 entries getting into the action to bring the total field size after the first two opening flights up to 197 entries.

The figure will be higher by the time late registration closes with more than 30 players battling it out in the turbo Day 1c and players allowed to late register and re-enter until the close of the first blind level of Saturday's Day 2.

Slovakia's Pavel Chalupka bagged the Day 1b chip lead with a stack of 430,000 placing him in the overall chip lead after passing Day 1a chip leader Vladimir Bednar who bagged 421,500. Alexander Baier was the only other player to advance thus far with more than 400,000 in chips after bagging the second-biggest stack on Day 1b.

Meanwhile, active Pokercode community member Tim Bakker had an amazing day and ended Day 1b with 356,500. Bakker catapulted to near the top of the leaderboard after he eliminated two players in the same hand including Andrej Desset.

Desset wasn't the only huge name battling it out on Day 1b as both Steffen Sontheimer and Mario Mosbock got into the action. Sontheimer fired two bullets only to come up empty-handed while Mosbock advanced to Day 2 with a short stack.

The tournament director has announced that every table will play at least five more hands before surviving players will bag chips for tomorrow's Day 2.

Simon Langer bet 10,500 on the {3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop into a pot of around 35,000. Roland Gotz jammed for 45,000. Langer, who barely had Gotz covered, made the call.

Simon Langer: {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Langer was drawing dead after the {4-Hearts} turn and Gotz eventually won the hand with quads after the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Langer was left with crumbs after the hand and the rest of his stack went Daniel Riemer

First Break

Jaxon • Level 3: 300-600, 600 ante

Day 1b is on its first 10-minute break. The field was at 84 entries with 78 players remaining before the break began.

Andrej Bugar bet 10,000 into a pot of around 20,000 with the {3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts} on the board. Ondrej Milabersky went into the tank for a minute before he made the call.

Bugar turned over {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} with a smile and Milabersky tapped the table hard in frustration before tossing his cards into the muck.

Martin Szongott has already fired the maximum of two bullets per flight during Day 1b and will have to wait for Day 1c tonight if he wishes to get back into the action.

Stefan Peukert bet 12,600 into a pot of a bit more on the {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop. Martin Szongott jammed for 42,400 and Paul Zehetleitner jammed for a little more. Peukert thought before he folded and showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

"It has to be nut flush against jacks," Peukert said.

Paul Zehetleitner: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Martin Szongott: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Peukert was partly correct with Zehetleitner holding a set.

The {a-Spades} turn and {2-Spades} would have improved Peukert to the nut-flush but instead it was Zeheleitner who won the hand with a set of jacks to eliminate Szongott.

Day 1b has thus far attracted 77 entries with 73 players still actively playing. This already beats the entire Day 1a, which attracted 75 entries with 21 survivors.

Jordan Woodall opened for 1,200 from under the gun and was called by Martin Szongott, who recently re-entered, from two seats over.

Tim Bakker three-bet to 5,100 before Paul Zehetleitner jammed for 38,100. Woodall and Szongott quickly folded before Bakker did the same to award Zehetleitner the pot preflop.

Before the hand Bakker and Zehetleitner were talking about how it is hard to go two hours without a smoke. Zehetleitner joked that if his opponent gave him chips they could go for a smoke.

"Now we can go for a smoke," Zehetleitner said after winning the pot and the entire table laughed.

72 Entries

Jaxon • Level 3: 300-600, 600 ante

Level 3 kicked off with the Day 1b field at 72 entries with 68 players in their seats. Just a few more entries are needed for the field to eclipse the 75 entries attracted on Day 1a.

Level 3: 300 - 600 / 600, avg. 52,857, ent.: 70/74

Darren Chandler jammed for 18,000 into a pot of around 50,000 with the {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} on the board after the turn. Andrey Andreev snap-called and players turned over their cards.

Darren Chandler: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Andrey Andreev: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was an interesting flop for both players with Chandler holding a set and Andreev nailing a flush. Andreev was still ahead when the chips went in after the turn but the {3-Spades} paired the board on the river to give Chandler a full house to double through Andreev.

Kim Huang and Juraj Macuga both checked the {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop.

Huang check-called a bet of 5,000 on the {4-Spades} turn by Macuga and check-called again for 5,000 on the {6-Clubs} river.

Macuga showed {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and although Huang whiffed the board, he still won the hand after he turned over {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Felix Weis with {k-}{q-} eliminated Martin Szongott with {5-}{5-} when the duo got it in on the {q-}{2-}{9-} flop before giving some of his newly found chips over to Tobias Keil as follows.

Keil had his 40,000 stack in the pot against Weis on the {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop

Tobias Keil: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Felix Weis: {k-}{8-}

Neither the {3-Clubs} turn nor the {6-Hearts} river helped Weis get ahead of queens and Keil doubled his stack.

Meanwhile, Tammo Franke dusted off his short stack at another table just before the start of Level 2.

Tammo Franke five-bet for near an opening stack preflop and Marek Cachovan called off for a little bit less.

Marek Cachovan: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Tammo Franke: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Franke paired his queen on the {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Spades} board. But this wasn't enough to beat cowboys and he was left with crumbs in his stack. Meanwhile, Cachovan became one of the early chip leaders.

We caught up with the hand as we heard Oliver Tatic re-raise to 15,000 preflop from the big blind over a bet by Andrey Andreev small blind and Andreev called.

Andreev checked the {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop before Tatic jammed for 18,500. Andreev went into the tank.

"OK, pass," said Andreev.

Andreev showed the {j-Clubs} before tossing his hand into the muck and the dealer awarded the pot to Tatic.

Meanwhile, Day 1b has already grown to 49 entries. Daniel Brenner was witnessed leaving the room around the same time as Tatic pulled down an early pot.

Felix Weis checked on the river with 10,000 in the pot and the {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts} on the board. Martin Szongott bet 6,500 and Weis went into the tank for several minutes before he raised to 26,500.

Szongott tanked for a minute before he made the call. Weis turned over {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a baby straight and won an early pot after Szongott mucked his cards.
